What a pleasure, what an honour! Multi-media artist Yassine Balbzioui, based in Marrakech/Morocco, spent time with us in 2023. As artist-in-res of the Sophiatown Arts Akademy he created one of his fantastic murals, Rope Games (2023), for the Joburg-community.

Furthermore, with iwalewabooks, he ignited the Johannesburg Art Fair 2023 and brought the Casablanca-Bordeaux-underground to the humble streets of Brixton with performances such as An Ode To Punk (2023).

Yassine Balbzioui is coming back to the Sophiatown Arts Akademy in February 2024, in a shared programme with Nirox Foundation & the Sophiatown Arts Festival, creating the public children's pool in Coronationville with us. Follow us for updates and to get involved!
