We are so happy and proud that journalist, researcher and filmmaker Katharina Warda (Berlin) is here with us!

She will work, as researcher in residence, on a number of projects. One of them being the alignment of the personal and geopolitical dimension of her father's life, who lived, as an uMkhonto weSizwe activist, in exile in the GDR. This project is also an exploration of the relation of the former two German states to the South Africa apartheid system, about resistance and complicity - and into yet another blank in capitalist West German memorial cultures.

This residency has been made possible in collaboration with the Cluster of Excellence Africa Multiple, University of Bayreuth/Germany. Dr Katharina Warda has been the lecturer of this year's Okwui Enwezor Lecture in July 2024.
